There are very few days when I do not write…even if I’m not actively working on a book there are always blog entries, speeches, interviews, reviews, letters.

But every now and then I take a self-imposed vacation from all writing to rest my mind and refill my well. For the first day or so I’m quite content. But when a few days stretch to a week and beyond I start to resemble this rather lethargic looking feline to the left.

The good news is that when I start writing again after one of these wordless holidays, I’m so eager to be at my desk, so relieved to be juggling words again that it feels as refreshing as a summer shower on a blistering hot day.
