Yes, I do cry sometimes when I’m writing. I also cry sometimes when I’m reading my work aloud. My short story, Nell, for example, which appears in the collection WHAT YOU WISH FOR, gets to me every single time. I don’t understand why this happens. I know the story intimately. I know how things turn out. I’ve created the trajectory of events. You would think I’d be immune to the emotional tug and yet I, too, can be pulled in.
