There are times when the words do not come readily. The temptation is to get up from the desk, throw in a load of laundry, stir up some chocolate pudding in the kitchen, grab my camera and head out for a long walk. Sometimes I surrender to those distractions. But usually I simply stay at my desk and put one word down, then another, then another. Usually within a day or two the writing begins to flow again. Trust yourself. We all have times when we have to work harder on something. What you write during those sticky times may not be wonderful. But it can be revised, or deleted. Its main purpose is to get you back into the rhythm of writing again. That’s not going to happen if you don’t sit at your desk and try.
